In July 2026, the entire city of New Orleans was named to the World Monuments Fund’s Irreplaceable America list, recognizing the importance of preserving the city’s unique cultural heritage. New Orleans’ live music venues, dance halls, bars, and nightclubs are essential parts of what makes our city irreplaceable.
On Tuesday, November 17 at 2:00pm, join The Ella Project and the New Orleans Jazz Museum for a discussion on the cultural significance and lasting legacy of these spaces.
Moderated by David Kunian, Music Curator of the New Orleans Jazz Museum, the panel features Jason Church, Director of Technical Services at Northwestern State University of Louisiana; Donna Poniatowski Sims, educator, author, and former co-owner of Donna’s Bar & Grill; and Joel Scilley, visual artist and founder of Audiowood.
Together, they will explore:
-The legacy of New Orleans’ music venues.
-How art and technology can preserve these spaces and the memories made within them.
-What we can do to protect and support our irreplaceable cultural venues.
-Plus your questions!
